The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow confirmed the establishment of its multidisciplinary Faculty of Travel Medicine in December 2005. The inaugural Annual General meeting and associated educational events were held on 18th October 2006 when its first elected Faculty Board was established. While some of those practicing Travel Medicine will be working primarily within other involved specialties such as primary care, infectious diseases, occupational health, tropical medicine and public health, the Faculty gives a ‘home’ within which experienced and well qualified practitioners can relate closely to each other and actively support Faculty objectives.

The Latin American Society for Travel Medicine (Sociedad Latinoamericana de Medicina del Viajero, SLAMVI) is a scientific international organization in Latin America dedicated to dealing with problems related to travelers’ health, promoting the individual and collective health, both at origin and destination places, and also promoting environmental care. In 2008 SLAMVI held its first international congress at Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in 2010 held its second congress jointly with the International Society for Travel Medicine and the International Society for Infectious Diseases. The Society promotes continuing medical education (such as through the Latin America Course on Travel Medicine) throughout the region and beyond.
